Get Paid for Surveys

If you have searched endlessly for a legitimate way to make money on the internet, and have ended up with no results, then you shouldn't quit there. I have discovered a way to make a decent amount of money on the internet! I had searched online for reviews and I have read one after the other and I have had nothing but positive results. It is called Amazon Mechanical Turk. It may have a "super-fancy" name, but it in fact is very simple. I created an account only yesterday and I have made $4.78 for doing work I didn't even put any effort into. I did that math and I found out that if I did the same HIT (i'll explain later) over and over, which is $0.05 for every submission, for about 3 hours a day, I will make about $20 a day. This is better then nothing! That's about $140 a week if you're dedicated. To start with Amazon Mechanical Turk, you must create an account. You must provide your social security number, but don't work! Amazon is a trusted website and they have no history of scamming. You can even do the research for yourself! To create an account, you must go to the website mturk.com and create an account. To do this, go to the website and click the create an account link in the top-right corner of the website and input your active email address and a good password. Once you do that you will be taken straight to the page where HITs are  located and you can get straight to work! You don't even have to wait for your account to be approved, you can instantly start to do HITs!

HIT is an acronym for Human Intelligence Tasks. These are tasks that computers are not yet able to do such as type an article or tag pictures. People post these jobs, and offer reward money. The reward amount can vary from anywhere between $0.01 - $50.00. The HITs that offer lower reward amounts normally come in bulk, meaning you can do that HIT over again for more reward money. There is no limit on how many HITs you can do in a certain time period. This is the good thing about MTurk.

I have seen people that have made hundreds and even thousands of dollars using this website and I must say so for myself, this website looks very promising for me. I hope you check it out and become satisfied with the results such as I! If you have already found out about this website and have made a decent amount of money from this website,

 please comment about your expierences!

top three ways to make money easy online

Here are the top three ways which you can consider on how to make money easy online:

1. Blog: One of the most popular things on the worldwide web nowadays is having a blog. A blog is actually like a daily journal where you write anything and everything under the sun. In fact, what makes it really in vogue is the fact that you can generate money with your blog. This is possible especially today when there are plenty of websites which are willing to pay for your blog. Aside from that, you can also gain money from your blog through the affiliate links included on your pages. You just have to make sure to maintain a good amount of Traffic to your blog page or site.

2. Affiliate Programs: This is truly one of the most effective ways to earn money online. You just have to first create your own web page or site and then insert some major affiliate links on your page. When a visitor buys the product you are recommending, you earn a commission.

Pay per click, or Ppc, is another type of affiliate program, but with a twist. You simply open an account with a pay per click website, such as Google Adwords and insert the code on your web pages. When a visitor clicks any of those links, then you can get an instant commission from that Link. You get an instant pay for every click of your visitors on any of the links on your page. The commissions are much smaller, but you only need a click through, not a sale.

3. Online Surveys: One of the most enjoyable ways of earning money online for stay at home types is to take online surveys. There are already a myriad of websites which are very eager to pay people who are willing to take their surveys. Thus, you can easily have money by simply answering their surveys with all honesty.

Indeed, there are many various ways to make money easily online. Nevertheless, you have to make sure to be very careful because of the existence of online scams. In this way, you can be certain that you can be victorious in making money online effortlessly and without any troubles at all.

Get Paid for Surveys

I have been a survey taker for several years now. I began participating in surveys for money back when I was still in Junior High School. That was the time that internet was just introduced to us. I was always fascinated with the idea of making money. That is why I began searching for a way to make money online. It all started as an innocent hobby. Now I am making hundreds of dollars per year blogging and doing surveys for different companies.

I will tell you that you need to make yourself fit into the demographic that they are looking for. If you take enough surveys you will get a feel for what it is and how to get approved for a survey. Sign up with as many companies as you can and keep at it. If you have friends or family members who want to participate, sign them up as well and you can earn twice as much.

Make sure that you pay close attention to all the questions and reading within the survey. Many survey companies now post quality control questions to make sure that you are paying attention. If you do not pass the quality control question, you are not given credit for the survey and you end up wasting a lot of time that way. Also, if there are open ended questions, try to be as creative as possible. You might get invited to a follow up focus group and those pay really well for your time.

Making money online as a freelance writer

These sites pay you per view so even if you write the same number of articles you likely won't make exactly the same amount. Even though this won't make an exact calculation of what you would make, it should give you a general idea of how much you could earn as a freelance writer.

I've been writing online off and on for a while, but for this experiment I'm going to step it up a bit, the goal is 50 articles each month. If it goes well I may continue the blog past the original time span of 2 months. I hope this will be an accurate calculation of how much you can earn each month from online publishing sites. The sites I will be using are Expertscolumn and Triond, but there are many others you could use. Most publishing sites pay about the same amount (around $0.01 per 5 views)

Benefits of Searching your Own Profile Name from Search Engines

Having an online profile name is an image that you portray, therefore, look at your profile as a brand name that you need to manage, promote, and establish a good image for social  reputation and credibility.  Read more about the benefits of searching your own from  search engines like Google and Yahoo:

1. It is  important that you check your profile name (or googling yourself) from time to time   in search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and many others. In this way, you will be able to monitor how your profile rates publicly.

2.   The internet is a storage or archive of information that contains the history of  online actions or digital footprints  which can be easily searched by others.   Joining  various  websites and later become inactive without  complete deletion of profile, comments on forums or blogs, uploading photos in social networking sites, playing online games and alike.

3.   A prospective employer can check your name in the internet to investigate about your background, it is  therefore important that good reference of data will appear on the search.  If there is a  profile name same as yours with a negative record, atleast you are already aware of it and know how to answer during the interview.

4.   If you are a freelancer writer, you will be able to see if someone is using your own  profile name.  You can easily identify the websites you have joined and those that are not which also appears your profile name.

Internet Marketing tips

The internet is an essential tool in marketing, promoting and building a strong business portfolio for the individual or company. Not only does it reach beyond the immediate community you or your business is organized in, but it also brings a multilateral way to increase exposure, sales, revenue and information.

What most entrepreneurs and small business owners find is that they are limited to the traffic and seasons of a local community. Considering that most locations, even big cities, depend on tourism, it can leave business owners nervous about long term leasing and long term success. But, depending on the economy, weather, and other conditions, retail or service providers may suffer from circumstances outside of their control. So it's best to have more that one way to earn revenue to generate a stronger sustainability. Whether they are promoting a service such as massage therapy, or a product such as office supplies, building a website is the first place to get started to build traffic and revenue.

There are many reputable web host and web builder sites available. Web.com is one of them. Click here to learn more about how to build a website through Web.com. It is essential to build a website that not only promotes a strong impression of the product or service you provide, but that it has a good SEO capability and offers an interface that can be updated regularly for advertising and marketing purposes.

Email campaigns are another way to promote yourself online. Through your business activities and customer service relations, you'll want to gather email addresses and ask people if they'd like to receive your latest updates in case of promotional offers, sales or special events. Newsletters are a great way to send out a group email to make announcements, press releases and many other forms of special offers. There are many websites that focus just on email newsletter generation and allow you to create an account in which you can send out an email blast by uploading your contacts in your address book. For example, many email newsletter sites will give free trials to test out their service. Most sites will require registration or some kind of sign up to use their service but this cuts down on design time for those who aren't as savvy with using newsletter programs. Beyond the websites, there are also a variety of software packages that people can use specifically to design beautiful newsletters with many features.

Email newsletter campaigns and building a website is a great place to start but that's just the beginning.

Using social networking websites is another venue, although doing so is a bit more time consuming. Yet, the rewards are many. Almost all social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Ning require you to create a profile to interact on their database but it's worth the time invested. Social networks allow you, as an individual or business owner to reach people all across the globe who may be attracted to your service or business. Also, some networks, free of charge, allow you to build connecting links that redirect browsers to your website where they can explore your service or product and learn more about what you offer as well as store hours, location etc. Social networks can be broad but they are also topic and category based too. Sites such as Ning offer a whole host of sub-social networks which are like a website child page. They are individual social networks created specifically just for a topic, business, person or place. Easily, people that are members in these networks can interact with others through forums, message boards, in-bound email messaging and comments.

Along with social networking comes social media such as Internet Radio. Many people are intimidated by the thoughts of being live on the internet radio air waves but radio is a top way in which people can promote their service, expertise, or products. Many professionals who provide services often find Internet Radio to be a great way to reach the masses and teach people about their area of expertise. Booking radio interviews is a great step to reaching the demographic that in-store or local traffic cannot provide. It's also a way in which to receive residual traffic to your website and most internet radio segments can be embedded as a widget or downloaded to your PC. What that means, is you can copy the HTML for your interview segment and share it through emails, blogs, bulletins, and even paste it into a page of your website. It makes it more interactive for the browser to your site or for those who want to learn more about what you offer.

Video or Audio campaigns are another great way to advertise and market your product or service. When people see or hear you speak in your natural form, they are more eager to learn more about what you offer. It makes it more informative and personal. Beyond that, it adds a level of professionalism and uniqueness to your message. Your goal is to stand out of the crowd to draw more attention to what you're doing and how it can be beneficial to them. Adding a level of educational context helps as well. In your video you can include small comments about the uniqueness of your community or what inspired you to do what you do. You can explore more about how to create a unique audio file feature to your website or emails, click here.

Adding flash banners or flash intro's into your website are a great way to personalize and dress up the decor of your website. There are many websites that specialize in flash banner creation such as BannerSnack.com which is a website that's completely free, so long as you embed the flash animation code that is watermarked with the Banner Snack logo. If you choose to use a design you created that doesn't feature the logo, you can pay a small fee which can be done either through your PayPal account or Credit Card. The flash banners you can create on this site come in many sizes, plus, you're able to add as many transition windows as you choose, as well as images, custom text and it has a huge panel of fade-in and fade-out transitions that can be implemented into the text or image of the transition window. Your options are diverse.

Lastly, promote growth by growing. Add something new. Think of ways you can improve upon what you already do best and look at new angles. The best way to do that is to stay updated on internet trends where people spend most of their time and find ways to integrate into those places with offering links, articles, banners, ads or advice columns.

There is always something new to explore online and that is also a successful motto you can use for your business or service; offering something new frequently to encourage success

Hubpages, Squidoo, Triond, and Xomba Review !!

Hubpages, Squidoo, Triond, and Xomba are all very popular networks for blogging and earning money with Google Adsense. However, having tried all three networks I am actually not a big fan. Let me begin with Hubpages, which is the most famous and the largest company by my standards. This wonderful company claims that there are members on there earning a legitimate side income on a regular basis. Some people say they actually earn a third of their income on Hubpages. I mean to say that their blogs are spectacular, well I cannot really say that. However, I actually do not trust Hubpages because I have had many perfectly good blogs on this website that have gotten many good reviews rejected for some unknown reason. Perhaps Hubpages did not want to pay up. Who knows. Actually, I am in the process of deleting my hubs from them and posting the content elsewhere. If a company does not appreciate my honest good efforts, than why bother workign for them?

Now lets move on to Squidoo. Once again this company heavily controls the ratings of the content that is published. They are quick to reject writings if the format is not exactly to their liking or if there aren't enough pages. It is very hard to get promoted on this website even if your content is good. When I posted my first blog I got zero views on it over like a week worth of time. I ended up deleting that blog and going elsewhere.

Now Triond is actually not such a bad website. However, lately no matter what I submit they claims that I am copying from elsewhere, so I guess they noticed I began making money and did not want to pay. I am still making money with them on my older articles, but they are not accepting any new ones. The customer service at Triond is non existent. This website never replies to any of my complaints. I am actually surprised that they have not cancelled my old blogs and I am surprised they are still in business because it seems that this page is run by ghosts.

Xomba is great because this website will let you publish just about anything. The content is not really screened all that much. You can easily get views and popularity. However, you cannot easily get paid. The page views somehow do not translate to Google Adsense. I am not sure as to why.

What is Chitika and what is it good ?

Chitika (pronounced CHIH-TI-ka) is an ad revenue sharing program. Meaning, it provides you with the possibility to make money from your blog / website / online content by placing Chitika ads on your articles and getting paid whenever one of your visitors click those ads.

True, Chitika is not the only service that allows you to do so. It is even not the most known one. Yet, it is one of the best, it not the best service. It is great for online writer who seek to leverage their content in order to make some money out of it, without charging it directly from their readers / viewers.

So what turns Chitika into such a great service? What makes it much better than the rest?

There are several factors that turn Chitika into the number one ad revenue sharing program (in my opinion).

1. It is considered one of the big services out there. Therefore, it has a lot of publishers that will pay you in order to have their ad located in your blog. And once there is a large number of publisher it is easier for Chitika to choose the one that will both be the must appropriate to your content and will pay you the higher PPV (Pay Per View) or PPC (Pay Per Click) rate.

2. Unlike other services, Chitika publicly and clearly state what are its demands from your website (like: your website must be written in English), and once you stand in those demands it is very easy for your website to be approved for Chitika as publishing.

3. It has one of the higher PPC ratios among all the ad revenue sharing services. Some claims that Chitika PPV is even the higher one. However, I never run into a test that compared all possible services in order to be sure of it.

4. It lets you choose your payment method! And the most important thing (to most people): it supports PayPal! This, of course, makes it one of the most accessible services, since most people already have a PayPal account (or can open one for free in several minutes).

5. It has one of the lowest thresholds for cash out profits. You can cash out the money the moment you earn as little as $10!

6. Chitika chooses the ads according to search key words. Meaning, if a visitor reached your page by typing key search in search engine – the ads will fit the words the visitor typed. This makes the ads much more appealing to the visitor and increases the change he will actually click them (and gain you money).

7. The biggest problem with ad revenue sharing programs is "click fraud" or "click manipulation". The services must defend themselves from it, it is understandable. However, not every "click manipulation" event is caused by the account holder. Sometimes it is just done by a bored child in the internet. Unfortunately, most services do not care. Once a "click manipulation" accrues in your account – you are banned. Chitika is much more reasonable about it. It understands it is not always your fault, so instead of banning you, it just remove the illegal profit from your account – a logical and fair solution.

8. It allows you to own your own affiliation program and integrate them into your Chitika account. Some people make hundreds of dollar a month like that.

9. The best thing: it does not force you to choose. You can use it with other services at the same time! Just be careful not to put too many ads in the same page – you do not want your visitor to consider you as a spammer.

10. It has a referral system that allows you to earn a few cents by referring other people to its program (we are not allowed to give referral links, so if you are interested in using mine just add .php?refid=tmrms at the end of the non-referral link I will give soon).

How Much Time Do You Spend Actually Doing SEO

While the SEO space is filled with “news,” drama, and attention seeking behavior (also known as ASB), there simply isn’t a significant amount of important changes that go on in SEO on a daily basis. If you’re spending all day reading blogs, forums, and links on twitter, you’re acting a lot more like a social media manager than an SEO. Fortunately, there is a simple solution, but you’ve gotta go cold turkey.  For one week, stop reading your rss feeds, forums, and twitter. When you come back, give yourself 2 hours to read what’s most important. If you stay within the 2 hour limit, you’ll be able to identify what you think are the most important things you need to read and forget the rest.

To get this done, you’re going to need to use one or two curators like SEO roundtable or sphinn (which has improved dramatically since dropping user voting–see friends and scorpions). You could also try subscribing to the SEO book forum. No, it’s not free, but IMHO it’s worth it (and yes that’s an aff link, but I’d recommend it anyway). If you’re looking for another source, try my new Facebook page. I’m experimenting and will put up one to two articles per day. It will be a mix of old and new articles but will always be high quality information, including things I think will help you learn and (more importantly) think about SEO.

With all that extra time, you should actually start doing more SEO. The number one thing you should do is more testing and less  believing in what some guru writes or blogs and tells you is true. You will be a better SEO for it. Spend time creating great, link worthy content or doing a content audit or any other maintenance work that makes your website leaner and meaner and removes the dead wood.

The key to being an expert in any field is knowing what 5 percent of knowledge really matters and  finding a balance between theory and hands on experience. So are you ready to stop reading and start doing

Seo Is Easy ?

The SEO world has always had its supporters and its detractors, and it’s never made a great deal of difference. The bigger battles often waged within the community between the whitehats and blackhats. The whitehats would rant and rave about how the blackhats could get clients in trouble and how blackhat tactics generally junked up the SERPs. The blackhats would fire back with, well, not much really. I suppose they were mostly busy with making money. This internal squabbling was largely ignored by the outside world and that was fine. Lately that is not the case.

There is a new battle waging, and on one side you have people calling SEO ‘stupid easy,’ ‘bullshit,’ ‘snake oil’ and so forth. On the other side, you have folks like me taking some pretty serious offence to our livelihood being denigrated by non-SEOs. A large part of the argument is that SEO is 95 percent easy, and it’s the other 5 percent that is what we really get paid for — and that 5 percent is the slimy stuff that makes the web a worse place to be.

We’re going to take a look at that 5 percent in this article based on actual work I’ve done for real clients. These clients all have one end goal. That goal is revenue – pure and simple or, more specifically, targeted traffic that converts by handing over their hard-earned money for your product or service. Revenue is the only measure of any relevance. Traffic and rankings are just fluff, if you’re not making your client money.

The 5 Percent

URL Structure (the fixing thereof)
Advanced Linking
Appropriate Cloaking (err…IP Delivery)
Dynamic Template Modification
Client Management (agency life)
Redirection (site moves or redesign)
Let’s breakdown that 5 percent a bit more and see what exactly is entailed, since all the other stuff is easy and anybody can do it (he says with his tongue firmly planted in his cheek).

URL Structure

One of our clients uses an incredibly complex CMS that was developed by a bunch of former Inktomi engineers (which is surprising considering the complete search engine un-friendliness of the default install). This CMS generated some horrible URLs. Working closely with the client and the CMS support team, we were able to clean up those URLs to make them actually crawlable. There was far more we wanted to do, such as getting the keywords for products and categories into the URLs. That didn’t turn out to be possible, so we settled for crawlability, which was a still a massive improvement. The end result was a 4,000 percent increase in indexed pages in Google.

Advanced Linking

Yes – we buy links. Lots of links. For several of our clients. Buying links is one of those items that was blackhat but is now almost completely mainstream. Anybody and everybody can buy links but what puts it in the 5 percent? You can totally shoot your website in the foot, if you don’t buy links correctly. Not all links are created equal. You need to understand the authority of the sites you are getting links on and the authority of your site. You also need to verify that the site passes that link juice you desire. Very few people know how to do that. Social network links such as what you get from Digg, Netscape, etc. aren’t what I’m talking about here. Those links generally only help you rank for brand terms.

Appropriate Cloaking (error…IP Delivery)

Cloaking has long been a hallmark tactic of a blackhat search engine spammer, but there are several perfectly acceptable and reasonable uses for cloaking. I recently helped one of our clients transition their online store from HTML to a fully Flash based store. Whoa, you say. Yes, that’s backwards, but when your talking about a top 25 world brand with a whole team of brand managers focused on slick user experience, you don’t always get your way. The simple fact that companies still do stuff like all Flash websites is a pretty clear indicator that SEO isn’t understood very well at all.

The solution in this case was to build out an underlying HTML version of the website and serve it only to search engine crawlers and to serve the Flash to real human surfers. Here’s the key – everything is identical between the two versions of the page. Any change we make to the HTML version is reflected in the Flash version. This maintains integrity with the search engines as well as keeping the brand police at bay.

Dynamic Template Modification

I debated this bit for a while, because it seems very straight forward. All you need to do is understand a bit of programming and a bit about how a database works. I debated that is until I was explaining to one of the senior IT guys that works on a client’s website and he said to me "To be honest I don’t really understand how this website works. It was built this way 5 years ago before my time."

If you don’t even understand how your website is built, how can you reasonably understand how to insert the SEO elements I’ve requested? The end result of this was a document with a screenshot of a product page and the associated source code with arrows and colored boxes and samples of what the code looks like prior to being processed into HTML etc.

Client Management

This arguably the hardest part of any mainstream SEO’s job. In short, it is about managing client expectations and getting them to champion SEO within their organization. It’s about the buy-in and recognizing the value. I guarantee you that most companies that say they’ve had a bad experience with an SEO agency more likely than not will point to lack luster results and poor client relations. Of course, usually the client did not get the SEO recommendations implemented correctly or at all but it’s still the agency responsible for results. The agency in turn resents this, and the whole relationship spirals downward in a hurry.

This is backed up by the most recent Constellation Report for Jupiter Research that identified customer service as the number one reason an online marketing agency is retained beyond the initial contract. Results were number two.

At Range, we do a lot of SEO for some very well known companies in the Fortune 500/1000 arena, and we do it very well. Below is a revenue graph for one of our longest term SEO clients. The dollar values have been removed from the chart for reasons of confidentiality but rest assured the numbers are in the millions. Can you spot where we began SEO for this client?

Results and client satisfaction are my metrics. Happy clients making money help me sleep very well at night. Call me a snake oil salesman, if you like but my snake oil is has cured the ills of many websites over the years.

SEO Secrets, Tips & Tricks

Whenever I go to a conference, or at least a dozen times a week by email, I get asked “What are some ‘SEO secrets’?” or “Hey–what keywords do you rank for, and can you show me some of your websites?” Until you have earned my trust, though, I’m really not going to show you anything. I made that mistake once and 3 months later saw a “clone” site from that person. It’s not that I’m a stuck up jerk and am not interested in helping people or paying it forward, because I really believe it’s a part of my role in the community. But there’s a difference between someone showing up at my door to ask for free food and someone asking, “Hey, can I go fishing with you so I can learn how to fish for myself?”

While I’m not a first generation SEO like Greg, Rae, or Todd, I have been been around a while, asked a lot of (sometimes stupid) questions, experimented and made a lot of small and awesomely catastrophic mistakes along the way, dabbled in the black arts, tried stuff and failed, and that’s how I learned. So much of what goes on today in the SEO community isn’t about asking questions, learning, and teaching; it’s about attention whoring, popularity contests, and SEO drama. Too many people are focused on finding the secrets for quick and easy ways to set up ATM machines on their front lawn so they can parade around like peacocks on display, having people tell them how they are like fabulously famous rockstars, when instead they should be putting in the effort to learn how it works, what keeps it running, and what do when when something breaks or your whole network gets torched. Because they don’t put forth that effort, when something goes off the rails, they are right back where they started: with no knowledge. All they can do is look for the next “handout” or SEO Secret.

Learning SEO is a lot like hunting. Without learning how to stalk your prey, how to hunt ir down, and how to “make the kill” that will feed you and your family, you won’t survive. Instead, everyone wants an ATM funded by SEO secrets. But when Google announces they are changing the algorithm specifically targeting SEO sites, your website built on tricks without knowing what you were doing or why you were doing it is likely to be a casualty caught in the crossfire. However if your website has strong technical platform with good information architecture practices, good or better quality content that exists for the users’ benefit and isn’t a wrapper for Adsense, and a solid social media and real world marketing plan and strategy, you are lot more resistant to these fluctuations. Content may be king, but if your tech foundation is so bad that search engines can’t understand it (listen up, Ajax and Flash developers!), your information architecture is so crazy and convoluted that search engines cant make heads or tails of it, and you don’t market on the proper channels where you can find your customers (not just the new hot social media channel that the techno weenies are talking about like your Pinterest page for whole life insurance), the best content lies trapped under lock and key where no one but you can see it. It’s the combination of all the pieces working together–content, information architecture, and good marketing & promotion–that leads to true success, not the elusive secret you are looking for to avoid one or more of those the steps.

Instead of focusing on ferreting out SEO secrets, concentrate on learning the fundamentals–like choosing the right URL structure. Learn how to silo your website, create evergreen content, and create seasonal content. Learn when you need to pay for premium content. Learn how to market with social media, how to automate it to get more ROI for your time. Learn how to develop and and when to email to your list. Learn how to build trust through links. Learn how to audit your content regularly and to keep your website lean, mean, and up to date. Learn to trim the fat, those useless parts of your website that don’t help you or your customers. When you learn those skills, you’ll find you don’t need to spend so much time looking for shortcuts, secrets, and tips … and you’ll spend less time worrying about algorithm changes. SEO drama my be a fun distraction or give you your 15 minutes of fame–but, unless it’s adding to your bottom line, it’s not helping you. It’s a distraction.

Google Adsense Easy Tips, Tricks, and Secrets

Build an Empire?
When you’re deciding to become a website publisher you will fall into one of two broad categories:
Publish 100 websites that each earn $1 a day profit
Publish 1 website that earns $100 a day profit
The reality of it is, most people end up somewhere in between. Having 100 websites leaves you with maintenance, management and content issues. Having one website leaves you open to all sort of fluctuations (search engines algorithm’s, market trends, etc). You can adapt your plan on the way, but you’ll have an easier time if you start out going in the direction of where you want to end up.

Site Design and Integration

Once you know you are going to put adsense on your website you’re going to have to consider where to put it. If this is new site it’s easier, if it’s an existing site it’s more difficult. While there are some people who will be able to do it, in most cases I’d say if you just slap the adsense code in, you’ll end up with a frankensite monster (props to Tedster of WMW for the buzzword). While every website is different, Google has published some heat maps showing the optimal locations. No surprise that the best spots are middle of the page and left hand side. Now I’ve done really well by placing it on the right, but you should know why you’re doing it that way before hand, and be prepared to change it if it doesn’t work out.

Google has also has published a list of the highest performing ad sizes:

336×280 large rectangle
300×250 inline rectangle
160×600 wide skyscraper
From the sites that I run, I do really well with the 336 rectangle and 160 skyscraper. My next best performing ad size is the 728 leaderboard, I don’t really use the 300 inline rectangle too often. So really it depends on how well you integrate these into your site. Placement can have a dramatic effect on performance. TIP: When working on a new site or new layout you may want to give each location it’s own channel for a little while until you understand the users behavior.

Another ‘trick’ that can increase your CTR is by blending your adsense into your body copy. For example if your body copy is black, remove the adsense border and make the title, text, and URL black.TIP: Try changing all of your page hyperlinks to a high contrast color (like dark red or a bold blue) then change the adsense title to the same color.

The one area where I’ve found blended ads don’t perform as well is forums, especially ones with a high volume of repeat members. Regular visitors develop banner blindness pretty quickly. One ‘trick’ to keep the ads from being ignored is to randomize the color and even the placement. As with any of the decisions about location, placement and color it’s a trade off. How much do you emphasize the ads without annoying your visitors. Remember it’s better to have a 1% CTR with 500 regular visitors as opposed to a 5% CTR with 50 visitors.

TIP: For forums try placing the adsense ads directly above or below the the first forum thread.

General or Niche
You can build your website around general topics or niche ones. Generally speaking niche websites work better with adsense. First off the ad targeting is much better. Secondly as you have a narrow focus your writing naturally becomes more expert in nature. Hopefully this makes you more authority in your field.

If this is your first try at building an adsense website, make it about something you enjoy. It will make the process much easier and less painful to accomplish. You should however make sure that your topic has enough of an ad inventory and the payout is at a level you are comfortable with. You may love medieval folk dancing, but the pool of advertisers for that subject is very small (in fact it’s currently zero).

Once you’ve gotten the hang of how Adsense works on a website, you are going to want to dabble in some high paying keywords, you may even be tempted to buy a high paying keyword list. This does come with some dangers. First off the level of fraud is much higher on the big money terms. Secondly there is a distortion of the supply and demand relationship for these terms. Everyone wants ads on their website that make $35 or more a click, however the number of advertisers who are willing to pay that much is pretty limited. Additionally the competition for that traffic is going to be stiff. So, don’t try to run with the big dogs if you can’t keep up. If you have to ask if you’re a big dog, then chances are, you’re not. I have used a high dollar keywords report from cashkeywords.com and was pleased with my results (see cash keywords free offer recap).

Using Images

One of the latest ‘secrets’ to make the rounds is using images placed directly above or below an adsense leaderboard. This has been used for a while but came out in a digital point forum thread where a member talked about quadrupling their CTR. Basically you set up the adsense code in a table with four images that line up directly with the ads. Whether or not this is deceptive is fuzzy and very subjective. Obviously four blinking arrows would be ‘enticing people to click’ and be against the adsense TOS. However placing pictures of 4 laptops over laptops ads isn’t, so use your best judgment here and look at it from the advertiser or Google’s perspective. If you have a question as to your implementation being ‘over the line’ write to adsense and ask them to take a look.

As far as using the images, I’ve done it and can tell you it definitely works. You get the best results when the images ‘complete the story the ads are telling’. For example if you have ads about apple pies, use pictures of freshly baked apple pies, instead of granny smith, Macintosh, pink lady, and braeburn apples. TIP: Don’t limit yourself to using images only on that size ad unit, it works just as well with the other sizes, like the 336 rectangle.

Added:

I got a little criticizm for this and rightly so, as I wasn’t specific as I could have been. Do not use very identifiable brand name or products for your images. Use generic non-specific stock images whenever possible and appropriate.

New Sites, Files and Maintenance

When you’re building a new site don’t put adsense on it until it’s finished. In fact I’d go even farther and say don’t put adsense on it until you have built inbound links and started getting traffic. If you put up a website with “lorem ipsum” dummy or placeholder text, your adsense ads will almost certainly be off topic. This is often true for new files on existing websites, especially if the topic is new or different. It may take days or weeks for google’s media bot to come back to your page and get the ads properly targeted. TIP: If you start getting lots of traffic from a variety of IP’s you will speed this process up dramatically.

I like to build my sites using include files. I put the header, footer and navigation in common files. It makes it much easier to maintain and manage. I also like to put my adsense code in include files. If I want/need to change my adsense code, it’s only one file I have to work with. TIP: I also use programming to turn the adsense on or off. I can change one global variable to true or false and my adsense ads will appear or disappear.

Managing URL’s and channels

Adsense channels is one area where it’s really easy to go overboard with stats. You can set up URL channels to compare how one website is doing to another. You can also set up sub channels for each URL. If you wanted to you do something channels like this:

domain1.com – 728 banner
domain1.com – 336 block
domain1.com – text link
domain2.com – 728 banner
domain2.com – image banner
domain2.com – 336 block
domain3.com – 300 block
While this is great for testing and knowing who clicks where and why, it makes your reporting a little wonky. Your total number will always be correct but when you look at your reports with a channel break down things will get displayed multiple times and not add up to correct total. Makes things pretty confusing, so decide if you really need/want that level of reporting detail. TIP: At the very least you want to know what URL is generating the income so be sure to enter distinct URL channels.

Multiple Ad Units

Another way to increase ad revenue is to use multiple ad units. According to Google’s TOS you are allowed to post up to three ad units per page. Similar to standard search results the highest paying ad units will be served first and the lowest being served last. If there is enough of an ad inventory, place all three ad units. However you should pay attention to the payouts. Current assumption is you get 60% of the revenue (on a $0.05 click you get $0.03). So if a click from the third ad unit is only paying between 3 to 5 cents you may want to omit it from your page. This is one are where giving your ad units channels does have value. If one ad unit is getting a higher percentage of click throughs you’ll want to make sure the highest paying ads are being served there. TIP:Use CSS positioning to get your highest paying ads serving in the location with the highest CTR.

Adsense in RSS

With the growth of blogs and RSS feeds you’re starting to see adsense included in the feeds now. IMHO this doesn’t work, and here’s why:

You only get to place one ad unit.
You have no control over finding the ‘sweet spot’ for the ad unit.
The ads are usually poorly targeted (this is getting better).
People develop ‘banner blindness’.
I know people like being able to read full postings in their feed reader, and there are at least a dozen other reasons for full posts from pleasing your users to mobile offline computing, all of which are completely valid. However if your website depends on generating adsense revenue to survive, then bring them to the site and show them the ads there.

Affiliate Sites

Placing Adsense on affiliate sites is tricky. Are you giving up a $10, $20, or $30 sale for a $1 click? This is something you have to test on your own to figure out. If you aren’t converting now it’s definitely worth a try. I like to use adsense on my article pages. For example let’s say you had an affiliate website where you sold shoes. You’re going to need some related articles to ‘flesh out’ the site. Things like ‘getting a shoe shine’ or ‘finding a shoe repair shop’ these are excellent spots for adsense. While you won’t get rich, they will usually provide a small steady income and cover things like hosting costs.

TIP: If you find you have pages getting more than 50 clicks per month add more pages about this topic, and link the pages together. Mine you logs for the search terms used.

PPC Arbitrage

This is a dicey subject so I’m going to steer clear of precise examples. Basically you bid on low volume uber niche terms at a very low cost. You set up landing page that contains high payout ads for the related general topic. You are looking for terms with a large gap between the price you are bidding on adwords and the price you are getting on Adsense. If you pay $0.10 a click and get $1.00 a click you make $0.90 each click. To get your adsense ad approved you will need to ‘add some value’ along the way. You can make a killing or get taken to the cleaners with this one, so make sure you know what you are doing before you try it.

Have any other adsense tips, tricks or secrets? Drop me an email and let me know, I’ll give you credit.

Added

728 leaderboard works very well if it is just above the end of the
“above the fold” area on what would be considered your viewers average
resolution/browser window size if there are few other enticing links
above the fold. Makes for an interesting layout but if you’re building
a site for AdSense it may be worth it. We consistently receive very
high CTRs from doing this.

Try to build sites that allow you to quickly try any and all of
those locations outlined in the heatmap guide or at least allow you a
wide degree of freedom to easily change ad/content locations.

How to put Google adsense (ads) code block in the middle blog Post

Can you put Google adsense in the middle of your post?

The answer is yes. You can display Google adsense in the middle of your Blogger Blogspot post. The way to do this is a bit more compilcated than displaying the adsense in other parts of post mentioned in other hub. That is probably why not so many bloggers have implemented this technique for their blogs, compared to the other techniques. However, if you are looking around, you can see few bloggers have used this technique to display Google adsense.

The only thing to bear in mind is that, Google adsense in the middle of post will break the flow of your post information. Your readers may not so like this and therefore may affect your presence online. However, it is all you to decide whether to display Google adsense in the middle of your post or prefer other more common techniques such under post title or in the beginning of post.

Steps to display Google adsense in the middle of post

Here is the first method on how you can put Google adsense in the middle of your Blogspot post.

Log in to your Blogspot dashboard
Go to Layout and Edit Html of your template and select Expand Widget
Find this code: <data :post.body/>
Replace the above code (#3) with the following new code:

<div expr:id=’&quot;aim1&quot; + data:post.id’></div>
<div style=&quot;clear:both; margin:10px 0&quot;>

<!– Your parsed Google AdSense code here –>

</div>

<div expr:id=’&quot;aim2&quot; + data:post.id’>
<data :post.body/>
</div>

Save your template. Done.
Now, everytime your write a new post, put this code <!– adsense –> in the middle of the post at location where you want the adsense to appear.
So, you have actually a choice to minimize te breaking effect of the adsense to the post flow you are presenting to your reader. It is best to put the adsense after a block of information flow is completed before the next one. In other words, avoid placing the adsense in the middle of an information block that will distract your reader attention.

Monetizing Blogs A professional Job(Blogging)

Unless you are living under the rock for the past few years, you may have heard of the term “blogs” or personal diaries that are published online by millions of users across the globe.

Jumping the blogging bandwagon is simple pick your niche, choose a blogging platform (like Blogger, WordPress, zumila) and start writing. The moment you hit that publish button, your thoughts and commentary instantly reach hundreds and thousands of souls with little effort.

You can blog on virtually any topic from shoes to iPods to cooking to stuffed toys think of a niche that you are passionate about, write consistently and you will automatically find readers in some corner of the world who’ll enjoy your writing and keep coming back for more.

People have quit their 9-to-5 jobs to take up blogging as a full time profession and they aren’t complaining.

And blogging is not just about sharing expression; it can even help pay your utility bills provided your blog gets a decent amount of traffic. (Monetisation can be tough if there’s just one person reading your blog—you)

There are generally two options to generate revenue from blogging—you either make money because of the blog or from the blog. In the former case, people (clients or potential employers) can offer you consulting and other paying gigs because you have a blog that reflects your knowledge and command over some subject.

The other more popular option, which we discuss in detail, is about making money directly from the blog through advertising, sponsorships, paid reviews, donations or even selling merchandise (like T-shirts and mugs).

The grand-daddy of all advertising programmes is Adsense from the same company whose name is synonymous with internet search—Google. Adsense is a contextual advertising programme meaning they scan your web page and deliver ads based on the context. For instance, a website on mobile phones is unlikely to see random ads of cars or cooking recipes— the ads will be about mobile phones or something related like ringtones and chargers.

Adsense is hugely popular in India for several reasons—first, it’s the brand “Google”. They have tonnes of advertisers in their kitty so your web pages are less likely to run out of ad inventory. Google’s contextual advertising system is solid and known to deliver mostly relevant ads—therefore the conversation rates are high keeping both the advertisers and publishers happy.

[Yahoo! and MSN are also expected to launch similar advertising programmes for Indian publishers sometime in near future.]
Text Link Ads and Adbrite are other good sources of revenue for bloggers. You place a link on your website / blog pointing to the advertiser’s page and are paid based on the time for which the link is live.

Next in the list are affiliate programmes like the ones offered by Amazon, Commission Junction and eBay. These programmes pay only when the click turns into a sale —the payouts are higher than standard advertising rates but the probability of earning review is relatively low because a lot of people may quit the advertiser’s site without making a purchase.

Services like Payperpost and ReviewMe are also receiving lot of attention in the blogging community. Bloggers are paid anywhere between $10 and $250 for writing product reviews on their personal blogs. The blogger’s fee is dependent on factors including blog popularity and the blogger’s niche. For instance, a gadgets blog may invite a higher rate than a parenting blog or even vice-versa.

Blogs have tremendous potential in terms of revenue provided you are willing to make a dedicated and consistent effort. There are people who have quit their regular 9-to-5 jobs to take up blogging as a full-time profession and they aren’t complaining.

Rules for Placing Google Adsense Ads on Mobile Webpages

AdSense for mobile allows webmaster to generate earnings from their mobile webpages using Adsense ads. You’ll earn money whenever your mobile website’s visitors click on your ads. Google has some rules that you must follow before adding Google Adsense ads on your mobile website.

AdSense for mobile ad code will not display ads on standard webpages.

Only one AdSense for mobile ad unit may be displayed per mobile webpage.

Google ads displayed on a publisher’s mobile-compliant webpage may not be modified or obscured in any way.

A “double” ad unit can only be placed on the bottom of the page, but may appear above the page’s footer (e.g. navigational links, copyright messages, etc.).

After a user click, display of the advertiser’s landing page may not be interrupted or prevented in any way. For instance, publishers may not display their own interstitial pages before taking users to the advertiser’s website.
