Google AdSense Optimization Tips

Google AdSense Optimization Tips

1. Don’t Feel Shy – If you are seriously willing to monetize your website with AdSense, make sure that you place advertisements in prominent locations where visitors will notice the ads.

2. The best performing ad units for AdSense are 160×600, 336×280 and 300×250. For text only ads, you should go with the 336×380 format but in all other situations, 300×250 may be a better format since it is most popular among advertisers and also supports rich media. 160×600 can easily fit in the sidebar of your blog.

3. Web visitors have a very short attention span and majority of them may simply leave after a quick glance. Their eyes follow a F pattern so you can get good results if the Google ads are placed in the areas colored red on the heat map. Sidebars and leaderboards at the top are often ignored.

4. Depending upon the layout of your website, you should consider placing the first unit somewhere in the middle of the page and above the fold.

5. Even kids would know that AdSense works best if there are no borders and that the background color of the ads matches with the background of the page. That may not always be true and sometimes colored backgrounds (like light yellow or very light grey) can convert better – look at the top AdWords unit on the Google search page.

6. If you have a website with a dark theme , experiment using a contrast color scheme for Google ads.

7. While it is a good idea to use section targeting around the main content, you should skip adding the section targeting tags for the comment section in your blog because the comments may not exactly convey what the page is all about. The aim is to increase the relevance of Google Ads.

8. Site visitors generally look for a search button at the top left region. Use the word “search” in the submit button else some visitors may not notice them. AdSense doesn’t allow publishers to pre-populate search boxes with keywords. Always use a second search box at the bottom of your pages and if possible, host site search on a separate sub-domain  as regular readers can easily remember that address.

9. I recommend using only text ads for the first Google Ad unit but place another 300×250 unit in the sidebar (or somewhere below the fold) – these generally serve CPM based ads and will therefore help you monetize visits from places like Digg and StumbleUpon even when the bounce rate is very very high.

The CPM of ad units will decrease as you come the page but that may not be the case with link units – they are small, text based, can fit in even small locations and perform brilliant.

10. These are recommended ad placements for a website depending upon the design (two-column or three-column). If you write long articles, try fitting an ad unit somewhere in the middle of the article or at the bottom because when readers are done with reading, they’ll probably look for more resources or related information.

11. Once your new ad placement is live, make sure you test the AdSense layout with help of your grandma or subscribe to a professional mouse tracking service like CrazyEgg to know how people interact / navigate your content.

12. Sometimes traffic flowing in from Image search engines can earn you more AdSense Revenue than regular web traffic. So upload good quality images and use text captions with alt tags to make sure that blog images rank good in Image Search results.

13. Flickr is another great source of traffic (especially from Yahoo!) and you may also use it to indirectly improve your organic rankings.

14. You can also increase relevance of Google Ads on your site by linking to authority websites using descriptive anchor text. This will also help improve your organic ranks since outgoing links and citations carry weight in the eyes of the search engine who may then consider you as an authority for that niche.

15. Look for variations in Google Analytics – AdSense reports. If you are seeing impressions for a page but no CTR or CPM, chances are that the page may be serving PSAs or the ads aren’t relevant enough. You may also use the AdSense Sandbox to figure out if visitors from other countries are unable to see ads on some page that have low (or zero) CPM.

16. Placement targeting is an excellent opportunity for you to market your site to potential AdWords advertisers. Therefore always make it a practice to use descriptive text when describing your AdSense channels.

17. Archives, Tags, Category or Author pages in a blog aren’t good landing pages and are hard to monetize as well. Redirect their Google juice to single post page using NOINDEX, FOLLOW tags.

18. Reward your regular visitors (I call them influences) with ad-free content. AdSense in feeds is not a loved option either so you may have use the feed footer to find spammers & feed scrappers.

19. If you run a multi-author blog, you can very easily implement AdSense Revenue sharing through channels. Assign a separate channel to each other and use that number for his or her blog posts.

20. AdSense Premium sites like CNN,  New York Times, About.com, etc. generally have dedicated AdSense account managers to help them optimize their Google ad units. You can study their layouts and probably implement some of the techniques in your own blog(s).

With Google AdSense, one should never feel complacent because there’s always a chance to improve earnings provided you are willing to experiment.

What is backlinks?

A back link is an inward link to your site that may or may not be reciprocated with an outward link back. If page A links to page B then a back link would be a link which goes from page B back to page A.

For example let’s consider you find an interesting article on web and you require the article to be displayed on your website hence you link the article to your website. Now your website acts as a back link to that article or to the URL where the article is originally located.

Check your website backlinks with Back link Checker tool that enables you to know the number of websites who have given a link to your website or webpage. Back links are inward links to a website or a webpage; it acts as one of the key factors in determining the ranking of your website. It helps you to have a track of the other websites on the web that link to your URL.

The Importance of Backlinks

If you've read anything about or studied Search Engine Optimization, you've come across the term "backlink" at least once. For those of you new to SEO, you may be wondering what a backlink is, and why they are important. Backlinks have become so important to the scope of Search Engine Optimization, that they have become some of the main building blocks to good SEO. In this article, we will explain to you what a backlink is, why they are important, and what you can do to help gain them while avoiding getting into trouble with the Search Engines like google yahoo, bing aol etc

What are "backlinks"? Backlinks are links that are directed towards your website. Also knows as Inbound links (IBL's). The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.

When search engines calculate the relevance of a site to a keyword, they consider the number of QUALITY inbound links to that site. So we should not be satisfied with merely getting inbound links, it is the quality of the inbound link that matters.

A search engine considers the content of the sites to determine the QUALITY of a link. When inbound links to your site come from other sites, and those sites have content related to your site, these inbound links are considered more relevant to your site. If inbound links are found on sites with unrelated content, they are considered less relevant. The higher the relevance of inbound links, the greater their quality.

For example, if a webmaster has a website about how to rescue orphaned kittens, and received a backlink from another website about kittens, then that would be more relevant in a search engine's assessment than say a link from a site about car racing. The more relevant the site is that is linking back to your website, the better the quality of the backlink.

Search engines want websites to have a level playing field, and look for natural links built slowly over time. While it is fairly easy to manipulate links on a web page to try to achieve a higher ranking, it is a lot harder to influence a search engine with external backlinks from other websites. This is also a reason why backlinks factor in so highly into a search engine's algorithm. Lately, however, a search engine's criteria for quality inbound links has gotten even tougher, thanks to unscrupulous webmasters trying to achieve these inbound links by deceptive or sneaky techniques, such as with hidden links, or automatically generated pages whose sole purpose is to provide inbound links to websites. These pages are called link farms, and they are not only disregarded by search engines, but linking to a link farm could get your site banned entirely.

Another reason to achieve quality backlinks is to entice visitors to come to your website. You can't build a website, and then expect that people will find your website without pointing the way. You will probably have to get the word out there about your site. One way webmasters got the word out used to be through reciprocal linking. Let's talk about reciprocal linking for a moment.

There is much discussion in these last few months about reciprocal linking. In the last Google update, reciprocal links were one of the targets of the search engine's latest filter. Many webmasters had agreed upon reciprocal link exchanges, in order to boost their site's rankings with the sheer number of inbound links. In a link exchange, one webmaster places a link on his website that points to another webmasters website, and vice versa. Many of these links were simply not relevant, and were just discounted. So while the irrelevant inbound link was ignored, the outbound links still got counted, diluting the relevancy score of many websites. This caused a great many websites to drop off the Google map.

We must be careful with our reciprocal links. There is a Google patent in the works that will deal with not only the popularity of the sites being linked to, but also how trustworthy a site is that you link to from your own website. This will mean that you could get into trouble with the search engine just for linking to a bad apple. We could begin preparing for this future change in the search engine algorithm by being choosier with which we exchange links right now. By choosing only relevant sites to link with, and sites that don't have tons of outbound links on a page, or sites that don't practice black-hat SEO techniques, we will have a better chance that our reciprocal links won't be discounted.

Many webmasters have more than one website. Sometimes these websites are related, sometimes they are not. You have to also be careful about interlinking multiple websites on the same IP. If you own seven related websites, then a link to each of those websites on a page could hurt you, as it may look like to a search engine that you are trying to do something fishy. Many webmasters have tried to manipulate backlinks in this way; and too many links to sites with the same IP address is referred to as backlink bombing.

One thing is certain: interlinking sites doesn't help you from a search engine standpoint. The only reason you may want to interlink your sites in the first place might be to provide your visitors with extra resources to visit. In this case, it would probably be okay to provide visitors with a link to another of your websites, but try to keep many instances of linking to the same IP address to a bare minimum. One or two links on a page here and there probably won't hurt you.

There are a few things to consider when beginning your backlink building campaign. It is helpful to keep track of your backlinks, to know which sites are linking back to you, and how the anchor text of the backlink incorporates keywords relating to your site. A tool to help you keep track of your backlinks is the Domain Stats Tool. This tool displays the backlinks of a domain in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. It will also tell you a few other details about your website, like your listings in the Open Directory, or DMOZ, from which Google regards backlinks highly important; Alexa traffic rank, and how many pages from your site that have been indexed, to name just a few.

Another tool to help you with your link building campaign is the Backlink Builder Tool. It is not enough just to have a large number of inbound links pointing to your site. Rather, you need to have a large number of QUALITY inbound links. This tool searches for websites that have a related theme to your website which are likely to add your link to their website. You specify a particular keyword or keyword phrase, and then the tool seeks out related sites for you. This helps to simplify your backlink building efforts by helping you create quality, relevant backlinks to your site, and making the job easier in the process.

There is another way to gain quality backlinks to your site, in addition to related site themes: anchor text. When a link incorporates a keyword into the text of the hyperlink, we call this quality anchor text. A link's anchor text may be one of the under-estimated resources a webmaster has. Instead of using words like "click here" which probably won't relate in any way to your website, using the words "Please visit our tips page for how to nurse an orphaned kitten" is a far better way to utilize a hyperlink. A good tool for helping you find your backlinks and what text is being used to link to your site is the Backlink Anchor Text Analysis Tool. If you find that your site is being linked to from another website, but the anchor text is not being utilized properly, you should request that the website change the anchor text to something incorporating relevant keywords. This will also help boost your quality backlinks score.Building quality backlinks is extremely important to Search Engine Optimization, and because of their importance, it should be very high on your priority list in your SEO efforts. We hope you have a better understanding of why you need good quality inbound links to your site, and have a handle on a few helpful tools to gain those links.

How to Build Backlinks

Getting Backlinks the Natural Way

The idea behind including backlinks as part of the page rank algorithm is that if a page is good, people will start linking to it. And the more backlinks a page has, the better. But in practice it is not exactly like this. Or at least you cannot always rely on the fact that your contents is good and people will link to you. Yes, if your content is good and relevant you can get a lot of quality backlinks, including from sites with similar topic as yours (and these are the most valuable kind of backlinks, especially if the anchor text contains your keywords) but what you get without efforts could be less than what you need to successfully promote your site. So, you less than what you need to successfully promote your site. So, you will have to resort to other ways of acquiring quality backlinks as described next.

Ways to Build Backlinks

Even if plenty of backlinks come to your site the natural way, additional quality backlinks are always welcome and the time you spend building them is not wasted. Among the acceptable ways of link building are getting listed in directories, posting in forums, blogs and article directories. The unacceptable ways include inter-linking (linking from one site to another site, which is owned by the same owner or exists mainly for the purpose to be a link farm), linking to spam sites or sites that host any kind of illegal content, purchasing links in bulk, linking to link farms, etc.

The first step in building backlinks is to find the places from which you can get quality backlinks. A valuable assistant in this process is the Backlink Builder tool. When you enter the keywords of your choice, the Backlink Builder tool gives you a list of sites where you can post an article, message, posting, or simply a backlink to your site. After you have the list of potential backlink partners, it is up to you to visit each of the sites and post your content with the backlink to your site in it.

You might wonder why sites as those, listed by the Backlink Builder tool provide such a precious asset as backlinks for free. The answer is simple – they need content for their site. When you post an article, or submit a link to your site, you do not get paid for this. You provide them for free with something they need – content – and in return they also provide you for free with something you need – quality backlinks. It is a free trade, as long as the sites you post your content or links are respected and you don't post fake links or content.

Getting Listed in Directories

If you are serious about your Web presence, getting listed in directories like DMOZ and Yahoo is a must – not only because this is a way to get some quality backlinks for free, but also because this way you are easily noticed by both search engines and potential visitors. Generally inclusion in search directories is free but the drawback is that sometimes you have to wait a couple of months before you get listed in the categories of your choice.

Forums and Article Directories

Generally search engines index forums so posting in forums and blogs is also a way to get quality backlinks with the anchor text you want. If the forum or blog is a respected one, a backlink is valuable. However, in some cases the forum or blog administrator can edit your post, or even delete it if it does not fit into the forum or blog policy. Also, sometimes administrators do not allow links in posts, unless they are relevant ones. In some rare cases (which are more an exception than a rule) the owner of a forum or a blog would have banned search engines from indexing it and in this case posting backlinks there is pointless.

While forum postings can be short and do not require much effort, submitting articles to directories can be more time-consuming because generally articles are longer than posts and need careful thinking while writing them. But it is also worth and it is not so difficult to do.

Content Exchange and Affiliate Programs

Content exchange and affiliate programs are similar to the previous method of getting quality backlinks. For instance, you can offer to interested sites RSS feeds for free. When the other site publishes your RSS feed, you will get a backlink to your site and potentially a lot of visitors, who will come to your site for more details about the headline and the abstract they read on the other site.

Affiliate programs are also good for getting more visitors (and buyers) and for building quality backlinks but they tend to be an expensive way because generally the affiliate commission is in the range of 10 to 30 %. But if you have an affiliate program anyway, why not use it to get some more quality backlinks?

News Announcements and Press Releases

Although this is hardly an everyday way to build backlinks, it is an approach that gives good results, if handled properly. There are many sites (for instance, here is a list of some of them) that publish for free or for a fee news announcements and press releases. A professionally written press release about an important event can bring you many, many visitors and the backlink from a respected site to yours is a good boost to your SEO efforts. The tricky part is that you cannot release press releases if there is nothing newsworthy. That is why we say that news announcements and press releases are not a commodity way to build backlinks.

Backlink Building Practices to Avoid

One of the practices that is to be avoided is link exchange. There are many programs, which offer to barter links. The principle is simple – you put a link to a site, they put a backlink to your site. There are a couple of important things to consider with link exchange programs. First, take care about the ratio between outbound and inbound links. If your outbound links are times your inbound, this is bad. Second (and more important) is the risk that your link exchange partners are link farms. If this is the case, you could even be banned from search engines, so it is too risky to indulge in link exchange programs.

Linking to suspicious places is something else that you must avoid. While it is true that search engines do not punish you if you have backlinks from such places because it is supposed that you have no control over what bad guys link to, if you enter a link exchange program with the so called bad neighbors and you link to them, this can be disastrous to your SEO efforts. For more details about bad neighbors, check the Bad Neighborhood article. Also, beware of getting tons of links in a short period of time because this still looks artificial and suspicious.

How to Add Backlinks to Your Website or Blog

 1. First it is necessary to find backlinks. You can do a Google search for high quality backlinks. You can pay for high quality back links. You can go on related forums for more information on backlinks.
 2. It will be necessary to register or sign up for the sites that you will be leaving a backlink on. The registration or sign up procedure is straight forward and will usually have an activation link sent to your email.
 3.  Once you have clicked on the activation link then you will be able to sign in.
 4.  Now that you are signed in, search for your profile button or control panel button . Navigate to edit your profile.
 5. Keep in mind that each website or forum that will give you a backlink is different. In some cases you add your url address where indicated. In other cases you also leave you url address in the signature box. Still in other cases you leave your url address in your bio section. It all depends and it is up to you to figure out unless the backlinks have instructions.
 6. With respect to the signature box and the bio (biography) box, you can leave 3 links to your site with key words.
 7. For example key words can be: Best Ways To Make Money Online, Make Money Online From Home, Best Home Based Business. These are 3 examples of keywords that will contain the link back to the website.
 8.  In order to add the link to these keywords you will have to use HTML code or BBC code. It will be indicated. Here is an example of the HTML code:  <a href="http://www.YOUR WEBSITE.com">KEYWORDS</a>
 9.  Here is the example of BBC code: KEYWORDS
 10. Basically these are the steps to follow. This is a procedure that has to be done over and over again. It is very time consuming. From experience it is good to note that setting an hour window per day would help you be consistent.

How To Add Backlinks To Your Website

Asking “how to add backlinks” is like asking “how do I make my car faster?” Your race car builder always has a simple answer: Horsepower costs money. How much do you want to spend?
Okay, maybe I’m being a little facetious here, but it really isn’t far from the truth. Linkbuilding is either going to cost you time or money. No one gets backlinks for free regardless of the BS the “gurus” are putting out (just before they sell you their $2,000 package “deal”).

Yes, I know, you’ve probably read articles on how to get free backlinks and maybe some of you were hoping you’d get some of that advice in this article. Instead, I’m going to give you the cold, hard truth. You’re either going to have to invest a lot of your time building backlinks, hire someone else to build backlinks, or use a service or automated software to build backlinks.

Either way, it’s going to cost you time or someone else’s time or spending money on software or services.
Now that you’ve had the cold shower, let’s look at some of the options available to you. first we’ll look at the free options for building backlinks and then we’ll discuss how to add backlinks with the paid services and automated software.

How to add backlinks

These are the methods you use when your time is worth less than your money. in that case, I would focus on blog commenting. It’s one of the most effective ways I know of to build links, Google loves them, and you can sometimes get lucky and hit the jackpot with a link from a high pagerank blog.

Get a gravatar

First, you have to have a gravatar. It’s that little square picture that shows up next to people’s comments on blogs. Go to Gravatar and sign up for one. It’s fast, easy and free.
Use an email address that you aren’t going to use for anything else. In the case of this website, I used info at cheap-seo-website-marketing.com. I don’t use that email for anything else. Just blog commenting. You should do the same thing.

Set up your Google Alerts

Next, go to Google Alerts and set up alerts for each of your keyword phrases on your website (or at least the ones you really want to promote). Again, it’s fast and easy to set up Google Alerts and it’s free.
When you set it up, make sure you set it up for blog posts only. Otherwise, you’ll get alerts on every press release, article, or other non-commentable item that comes across the Internet. And tell Google you want the alerts once a day.
They will come to your email inbox every morning. Just click on each link and see what the blog says and whether they accept comments. You also want to make sure that they will let you have a link back to your website. And preferably, there are other comments on the blog so you know there are actual readers.
How to do blog commenting to get a useful backlink…
Where it asks for your name, use the keyword phrase the Google Alert was sent for. That way your keyword phrase will be your anchor text. Then just add in your blog commenting email and your website address. If the keyword phrase is for one of your inner pages and not your home page, be sure to use that page’s URL for the website address.

Use the Free Version of Directory Submitter

This should be next on your free links agenda. Directory Submitter is a free software for submitting your website to online directories. When you get a little moola together, I suggest you get the full paid version. The free version lists 350 sites. The paid one lists over 900.

Free Social Bookmarking Service

Sign up for SocialADR. They have a free version where you bookmark other people’s websites to earn credits that you can use to get other people to bookmark your websites and pages. Great swap deal. Google isn’t impressed when you bookmark your own stuff but getting other people to bookmark your pages, that’s gold. I use the paid version but, of course, I believe time is money and the backlinks more than pay for the service.

How to Add Backlinks with Article Marketing

Article marketing or as it’s sometimes called, “bum marketing” (as in, so easy a bum could do it), is a great way to get backlinks (albeit, a slow way). Simply write as many articles as you can and submit them to article directories across the Internet. There are plenty of article directories to choose from but I recommend the following list because they have a high pagerank and high Alexa rank.

Ezine Articles
Articles Base
Buzzle
GO articles
Article Alley
Article Dashboard
Article Click
Amazines
Article Nexus
Articles Sphere
Again, I want to impress upon you that Google wants to see your backlinks coming from a diversity of URLs so spread your articles out between these article directories. Also, most of them have a minimum number of articles you need to post to be a featured author. At least post the minimum as soon as you can.
And lastly, read their rules. Some will allow no links within your article, some will allow more than one in the article, and you want to make sure you have a link to the page you want to feature in your Author Box. If they have tutorials, read or watch them.
How To Add Backlinks The Faster and Easier Way (but still safely)
Okay, in this section, we’ll assume you have an online marketing budget but you aren’t the “throw money at it” type of person (because that’s the kind of person I am). And by safely, I mean you aren’t going to tick off Google and find yourself blacklisted using these methods.

Let’s look at automated blog commenting

Now, when I say automated blog commenting, I don’t mean “and the monkey pushed the button.” In fact, all of the automated methods I’ll teach you here require some set-up and work. The difference is, it takes a lot less time and work and because of the automation, you get one heck of a lot more links for your effort than you do with the “do-it-yourself” methods up above.
Let’s get down to business. There are two different tools available for automated blog commenting. One is called CommentHut and the other is called Lotus Jump. The major differences are, CommentHut is a SEO software you purchase outright. Lotus Jump is a subscription-based online system.

Using CommentHut

It hunts down blogs in WordPress, Blogger, LiveJournal, Hub Pages, Squidoo pages and more. It will list all the blog posts it finds based on the keyword phrase you give it. You can also set it to delete any blog post it finds from a blog with a page rank lower than you request. I have mine set to reject anything below page ranks 3. You can read my full review of CommentHut or go to their website and watch the video to learn more.

Using Lotus Jump

Lotus Jump is more sophisticated than CommentHut. I use them both. I use CommentHut when I’m in a hurry and just want to crank out a few quick blog comments. I use Lotus Jump when I have more time and really want to create a lot of high quality backlinks to my website.
Lotus Jump goes out and finds the right directories, forums, blogs and profile opportunities for you to create links on. It really goes beyond simple blog commenting and gets into PR and creating online “buzz” for your website. It even automates directory submissions.
In other words, you get more for your buck with Lotus Jump. You can read my review of Lotus Jump or you can go direct to their website and watch the video on how it works.

Creating backlinks with paid reviews

Paid reviews are a great way to get backlinks from PR 3 blogs. The tough part is finding people to do that for you. Luckily, we have Sponsored Reviews.

I actually found out about Sponsored Reviews from a client who asked me if it was a good idea. By the time I got through trying it for myself, I was sold on it. Here’s how it works…
You sign up as a person looking for reviews of your website, product or service. People with blogs sign up to do reviews. The potential reviewers bid on how much they are willing to write the review for based on the page rank of their blog.

On average, the lowest page rank bloggers will do a review for you for about 5 bucks. The page rank 3 bloggers will do it for about $20. That’s reasonably cheap for a positive review on a PR3 blog with a link back to your website.

I use this to get some nice PR 3 or better links for my clients and for my sites. You can read my review of Sponsored Reviews or you can check them out by visiting their website.

Use the Paid Version of Directory Submitter

This should be next on your linkbuilding agenda. Directory Submitter is a software for submitting your website to online directories. While the free version lists 350 sites, the paid one lists over 900 business directories. Now that’s a lot of links. I’ll admit, they lost a lot of their luster since Google gave them all the pagerank slap, but they still have value and many of them are still PR 3, 4, or 5.

Paid Social Bookmarking Service
Sign up for SocialADR.

They have a paid version that lets you just list the pages you want bookmarked and the freebie members will bookmark you pages for you to get credits so they can get their bookmarks posted. Talk about easy money. Google isn’t impressed when you bookmark your own stuff but getting other people to bookmark your pages, that’s gold. I have a friend who owns a dining guide. I suggested he use SocialADR. He tried it and told me he got so much new traffic he had to buy more bandwidth from his host to accommodate all the new traffic. I call that money well spent.

Blog and Article Marketing with SEO Linkvine and The Best Spinner
Google has recently made it clear that they are even more focused now on delivering targeted content to searchers. So I consider SEO Linkvine my ace in the hole.
I do a lot of article marketing because as I said, Google is getting even more focused on content. So I need to create a lot of unique content quickly. For that I use The Best Article Spinner.

Here’s what I do

I write a quick article of 350 to 550 words using my word processor software. Next, I copy and paste that article into a text file. In my case, that would be Notepad. Then I open The Best Spinner and bring the text article into it. I use The Best Spinner to create a spin-able version of the article. (To learn more about how The Best Spinner works, please download this free manual I created for it).

I then upload the spun article into SEO Linkvine, insert my links into the article, and set it up with tags. Then “the monkey pushes the button.” Depending on the subject matter, this usually garners me anywhere from 5-10 new links per week and sometimes more. For as long as I stay a member, I just keep getting links.
And these links are all unique posts on related blogs with my anchor text link back to my site. That’s just like money in the bank.

On top of which, I can use The Best Spinner to spin the article into 250 versions for me to upload to article directories like the ones listed above.

Using an Article Submitter

Okay, here’s my view on using an article submitter. I can tell you right now as an SEO professional that using an article submitter won’t do anything for you in terms of boosting you in the search engines. Duplicate content is worthless for that.

Now, having said that, using an article submitter still gets your article spread all over the place on article directories where people go and search for articles on topics they are interested in. So it can still be a real boon as far as targeted traffic goes. And let’s face it. Targeted traffic is all we are really interested in. That’s why we want our pages on first page of Google.
And that’s why we are putting all that content out there. To get targeted buyers to our website. So as long as you are using other backlink methods, I say definitely use an article submitter.

Super-Secret-Ultimate-Linkbuilding-Scheme

Okay. I can count on one hand the number of clients I’ve told this high PR link creation technique to. And it doesn’t cost a dime.
As you may or may not know, quality linkbacks beat quantity linkbacks every time. So here’s my super-secret trick I use to get high PR links for myself and my clients.
Newspapers may be dying all over the country but their websites are so crammed with constantly updating content that they have amazing pagerank and Alexa rank. But did you know that many of them let you sign up for free and create a fabulous profile with links back to your websites? And even better than that, quite a few of them let you create your own blog on their website (and blogroll for even more links to your websites).
So here’s what you do. Start looking up newspaper websites and find the ones that allow you to create a profile  and a blog. Cram as much information in the profile as you can and then start a blog. Post new articles to the blog every couple of days with links in each one to other newspaper blogs you’ve created and pages on your websites.

Maybe put up some posts with links to your social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, PDFCast, Flickr, YouTube, etc., to create an interlinked web or linkvine as they sometimes call them. This will do more for you than you can imagine for both traffic and SEO. Good luck!!!

PS One last point. Most of the software listed here is relatively cheap considering the number of links they will get you and the amount of targeted traffic they will bring to your website. But this is the most expensive software in the world if you get it and then it just sits there on your hard drive doing nothing. You still have to use it. You still have to open them every day and invest some time and work with them.

If you use them, they’ll make you lots of money. If you don’t, they’ll just leave you broke.

There is nothing wrong with this approach, but  We all know that advertising can become a black hole for money and that there are plenty of ways to promote your blog free — so what’s the best way of getting and keeping your readers without resorting to paid advertising?

Ways to get free Traffic to your Website:
Here I’m talking about one simple rule of any type of Blogging which will help you to get free traffic. I’m not going to talk about any method, but it’s all about refining what you are already doing.

Blogging platform:
The first thing you should do is to make sure you use a good blogging platform such as WordPress. This will help you to get started quickly and more efficiently. More over, you have more control on SEO of your blog when you are using a self hosted WordPress blog. If you are new to WordPress, you can refer to WordPress guide to get started here.

SEO:

SEO, choosing the right keywords for your blog and getting search engine traffic is undoubtedly important to get free traffic, as is creating backlinks to your blog. This is an effective strategy because blog readers love information and will be reading widely on their subjects of interest. You can find plenty of potential visitors on other relevant blogs, forums, social media sites and websites, so it is essential that you stay in touch with what’s out there and create as many links back to your blog as you possibly can.
Now, when you are compiling a post in WordPress or on any platform, make sure you follow standard on Page optimization rule or better use keyword optimization plugin like EasyWPSEO. The key to this free traffic guide is SEO, as we will be using the power of search engine and blogging to get traffic

Press releases:

Press releases are one of the best ways to drive a lot of traffic to your site, especially when they are published in popular newspapers and magazines. Editors are always on the lookout for interesting stories, particularly for the online versions of papers, but you do need to write a press release specifically for a particular publication. Pay attention to their style and write pieces that will fit in with their general themes.
If a story looks like it’s written generically for any old media, then it’s likely to be rejected unless it is ground-breaking news. You can try media agencies to find a home for your press release but the best way to get it accepted it is to write directly for a particular editor who writes about your area of interest. Just take some time doing your research before you start writing — if your story is accepted and published by a well-known paper or magazine, you could be deluged with traffic in a very short time.

Use Interactive Media:
Another way to utilise high ranking sites in order to get links back to your blog is to post videos on YouTube or photographs on Flickr, for example. There are endless ways you can use interactive media to promote your blog — how about making some instruction videos for You Tube or interview somebody interesting for a webinar, or record your blog posts as audio blogs (audio blogs could provide a really great service for people who are blind). You can also take advantage of viral video marketing guide, to boost this to next level.

Commenting:
Blog commenting is another great free tool that we got. Commenting not only helps in branding, and traffic but it also helps in generating backlinks. More over, it’s quick and with a proper strategy, you can use it for better personal connection. Here is a complete blog commenting guide, that you can refer to for getting started with blog commenting. I also, recommend you to install this free addon call Easy Comment, which will help you to fill comments forms with one click.

Wikipedia Editor:
Yet another way to tap into high ranking sites for those important links and really boost your credibility at the same time is to become a Wikipedia editor. You can write your own entry on the subject you are most knowledgeable about, or you can edit other people’s pages and add links and references. Don’t forget to mention your work on Wikipedia within your blog as it helps to showcase your expertise.

Series post: Increase curiosity
One great strategy for getting people to come back to your blog for more is to serialise your blog posts. Break up a long story into several smaller posts and make sure you maintain enough intrigue to get your readers wanting to know what happens next. It’s like creating a cliff-hanger at the end of a chapter in a riveting thriller — you should always leave your readers desperate to know what’s coming next.

Interlink Blog post like a pro:
To make your blog site sticky’ and keep visitors reading for longer, it’s a good idea to have links to other posts within your blog site. This gives your reader a more rounded experience and gives them the opportunity to judge the whole of your work, rather than just your most recent post.
If you are on Wp platform, you can use plugins like SEO smart link pro or Insights for faster linking. I suggest the first one, as it automate the whole process of internal linking.

Ask questions : Engage with readers
Try starting a debate about an important issue or something topical that readers might be interested in. This draws them in by inviting them to comment and give their opinions. A great way to conduct a debate is via a podcast on your blog — this is like having your own radio show. People love to give their opinions and a podcast would give them a chance to air them publicly

Video/Social media:
If a podcast seems like a scary prospect for you, you could conduct a discussion via a written forum or through one of the social media sites like Facebook or Twitter. Another more controlled way to discuss issues on your blog site is to host a round-the-table discussion with some experts and film them with their permission, of course. Post the video on your blog site and on YouTube and invite comments from your readers.

You can also take advantage of Google plus hangout feature, to host video meeting on your Google plus page and connect with readers. This will not only help you to promote your G+ page but also help in establishing you as an expert.
By far the best way to ensure that readers will want to come back to your blog is to create compelling and engaging content. Post frequently and give your readers the quality of information they are looking for and you can’t fail to attract them back regularly and recommend your blog to others.

Other trick, which you can use is by putting your blog in auction on sites like Flippa, digital forum and other Websites buy and selling sites. You can set the unreasonable price, and this can help you get decent amount of free refferal traffic from these website flipping sites.
Well, these are some of the tips which I can think of right now to get free blog traffic, but if you have more ideas and suggestions, do let us know via comment. If you enjoyed reading this post, don’t forget to share it on Google plus and Facebook.
